WESTERVILLE,OllIO, Nov. 19. 1972 'ovice John Gennai powered a 250
Bultaco past Ricky Hocking midway
. through the 20-lap main event here
tonight to capture the Pittsburgh
American Indoor Championship Race
sanctioned by the American Motorcycle
Association.
Hocking, also a Novice. won the first
championship race earlier in the year at
Oakland and the two California racers
ba tued head-to-head in both the
semi-final heat and the trophy dash with
Gennai winning both.
Gennai picked up the winner's share
of the $6,000 purse and moved into
second place in the point standings
whiJe Jlocking, aboard a Yamaha,
remained the point leader with his
second place finish. Mike Kidd of Hurst,
Texas, was third at Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh event concluded a
three-event weekend as the riders
participated in events at Hershey,
Pennsylvania, and Richmond, Virginia,
the previous two nigh ts.
The weekend's action also marked
the first lime an artificial track has been
use.d indoors for the short track series.
