race was a benefit for Bob Endicott
(Action Fours Honda) who won easily
after Jim Evans (Mel Dinesen Yamaha
350) dropped back with a sand-soured
engine after taking the lead.
The Lightweight Senior GP event was
won by Tom Carroll (Pacific Yamaha
250) after he took the lead from early
leader Whitney Blakeslee (Anza Cycles
Kawasaki 175). Back in the pack Jim
Evans (Dinesen Hodaka) won the 100
class after a brief challenge from Terry
Stanart (Anza Cycle Kawasaki) .
The Junior GP races were rather mild
after the braver Junior riders had their
ardors cooled hy crashes in practice.
The Open event was a pretty easy
victory for Lee Fleming on the same
Honda. Second overall was 350 winner
Rod Murufas (Yam) who was riding as a
Junior for some mysterious reason.
David Racine forsook his Honda 350 for
a ride on a 450 and took first 500
trophy home for Team"American.
Nick Voge (Yamaha 250) was a
runaway winner in the Ligh tweight
Junior event after his usual competition.
Tom Milligan, was center punched while
lining up for the start. The 200 class fen
to John Hewitt (Yam), the 175 class to
Henri Goodman (Cycle Stop Kawasaki),
the 125 class to Richard Lisk (NPG
Lubrican 15 Suzuki) and the 100 class to
Dennis Ruminer (Hon).
The last ACA road race of the year
will be on December 3 at Riverside.

CARLSBAD, CAL., Nov. 19, 1972 The recent rains provided Carlsbad's
road course with a layer of mud which,
although dry, made things very slippery
for today's ACA road races.
The best race of the day was
Heavyweight Production which was
dominated for almost the entire
distance by Mike Devlin on his Don
Vesco Yamaha 350 but was won by Lee
Fleming on a Honda 750. About three
laps from the flag, Fleming caugh t and
passed Devlin who had led from the
start. On the next lap Fleming got
caught in traffic and Devlin slipped back
into the lead. Fleming managed to
repass and win with Devlin taking a
close second and Bud Keeley' (350
Honda) taking third overall and second
in class.
The Ligh tweigh t Prod uction even t
saw a mge field tha( was completely
bulldozed by Willie Hardin (250 Suzuki)
who won running away and riding
easily. It's interesting to note that
Hardin is employed by a finn in the
motorcyling field that has a policy of
forbidding their employees to race. The
Yamaha of John Hewitt was 200 class
winner. The tiddler classes were divided
up among Gary Massery (Yamaha 125),
Paul Wilde (Ace Bike Shop Yamaha
100), and Paul Long (Retco ltaljet 50).
The small Heavyweight Senior GP
Nick Voge was the Junior Lightweight winner.
Mel Dinesen snaps a momento of his rider, Jim Evans, winning the 100 Senior GP event. Evans is
chased by Terry Stanart. second place.
Willie Hardin had an easy runavvay victory in the Lightweight Production event.
