Of aJI dumb times to end up back in
the hospital, I had to pick the perfect
weekend; Carlsbad. So there I was,
dammit, nat on my back, muttering old
English curses and thin king of all the
fun I was missing. Ah well, can't win
'em all. One nice thing happened this
trip. My room-mate and I were talking.
N aturaJIy, the subject got around to
bikes and her great grandnephew is a
local motocross shoe, Brian Lightfoot,
who is fast coming up. Within a day
there was a "get well"card from Brian.
I'll say it again: Bike people are the
greatest.
How do you like the fact that
NORRA is running a buggy race the
same day as the Barstow-to-Vegas? I
don't know, but it seems to me that
there was a little failure in planning
there. After all, everyone knew the date
for the Barstow-Vegas event from the
day the date board was set up, and
here's NORRA throwing an event the
same day, running' the opposite
direction. It caused quite- a flap for a bit
and we sat mum on the rumors and
stories floating around but everying is
now go: The cars will stop at Stateline,
but if you're riding that one and see a
big cloud of dust heading right at you,
