TRABUCO CANYON, CAL., Oct. 22,
1972 - The regularly scheduled AME
race at Saddleback Park didn't take
place today because the AME motioned
to start firin' up their engines at the new
Escape Country Motocross track where
they combined forces with the
consistent Escape Country MXers and
whipped up a heck of a racing show
with around 450 racers!
Despite this large number of
participants, the officials kept things
completely in hand for a smooth and
competitive race. Truckin' into the park
came' of the well-known AME shoes and
even famed Lars Larsson, who helped
make racing its best.
One class that really got hit hard by
the tops of racing was the rocket-like
125 Senior go where the cash was being
eagerly chased hy three colorful bikers:
Murray Hoffman-the guy that races a
Don Vesco- sponsored super-DKW that
zapps even the fastest mills. When
matched up with Murray, it becomes a
killer. Dave Miller: a jet of a Senior
racer who was racing a Costella Special
DKW which has definitely got to be one
of the cleanest motocross rigs around_
Davy Carlson_ An Allee Bros. racer who
leads in points at EI Taro and today
raced a stock looking '73 Yammie 125
that hummed like a works machine.
While all three were bears, someone
had to come on top and for the mGst
part it was the trick Vesco DKW star
Hoffman who raced with visions of a big
AME check. He wasn't in a whole lot of
trouble until the third maLO came
about, in which Dave Miller got the
jump with his dream-handling Costella
Proto to give Dave the best position of
the two.
oon, Miller knifed a berm and just
about went over the brink to slow him
up enough to give Murray Hoffman
back the lead, with Davy Carlson closing
up on Mi lIer.
Greg Lee, who should be well now
for his AME CZ Series big score, came
up with a good idea and decided to
attemp1: to smoke on the 125
Intermediates. Greg was noticed on a
CZ 125 that was touched by his tuner,
E.C. Birt of Precision, and this machine
did go with the same kin'd of speed
found in his 250 to take the overall win.

Yams'.
Rusty Carter (sponsored by Sweet
Duck Suzuki) started last off the line
during the second race of the 125
Juniors; crashed and still came charging
through the pack for the flag. Taking all
three gave Carter a runaway win for the
day, after a challenging battle with Gary
Tarvin.
