CHAMPIONSHIP AT'INDIAN DUNES .~ Jo ~.1 Jordi Permanyer was the day's winner. One Master section which was especially enjoy(lble to watch was where a near-vertical ten foot climb had to be negotiated followed by an immeaiate 90 degree righ t hander which took you along a foot wide ledge to an equally steep drop off. From there the markers wen t righ t back up the powdery hill only this time they had some interesting turns along the way to keep the rider off balance and forcing large amount of body English and a cool application of throttle twist. The people associated with trials have got to be. the greatest group of humans anywhere as they show extreme courtesty to not only each other but to other motorcycling groups and individ uals as welJ. Tightest competition of the day was in the Amateur category as Randy Beaty and· Brian Perry both finished with seven points. First place went to Beaty as he finished with an astonishing 24 dean sections and Perry had "only" 23 deans. Brian has to feel a little strange after such a super effort was bettered by only one clean. Roger Graham fmished with 14 points to fill out the top three and, in their own way, they have served notice on the Expert riders that they are.-on their way. Expert rider Jim Laudeman who finished with a 16 and an aggressive Bernie chreiber who got 20 easily established themselves as top con tenders in the Expert division. The Evans family scored big today as Edna Evans won the women's class while Debbie scored a third place in the highly competitive Novice division, and Donna also copped a third place finish in the kids class. After the competition Debbie was entertaining everyone by standing on the seat of Allen Greenwood's Cotton without the aid'of sidestand or assistance. Kind of like the Flying Zucchini's in the circus_ A talented young lady and good looking too! Congratulations to V.a.T.E. for a fantastic, well-organized day of trials riding. 1 thoroughly enjoyed myself and I'm sure everyone else did also. in YANNUYS CYCLE CARE PRODUCTS Open 7 days MonfThurs. 9-9 Fr!. till 6, Sat. 7·5, Sun 7-2 14813 Oxnard St. 91401 FRELAN.
