The 250 Combined races are always interesting because the machinery is relatively similar and it puts everyone on an equal level. It also shows who the fast Juniors are. Steve Baker has only ridden a handful of road races, bu t he rmished fifth in the Combined and was first Junior. Baker is a dirt tracker at heart. The slight build, glasses, and braces add to the image, too. Other notable performances were put in by Marty Lunde and Dave Smith. Smith showed that he is recovered from his early season injuries and means business. Conrad Urbanowski was another privateer who was up there in the top ten, riding consistently -in both the Combined and the 250 Miler.
