WINS ASCOT 20 ·LAP HALF-MILE NATIONAL NEW QUALIFYING RECORD SET BY GARY SCOTT Triumph riders broke last year's 1 lap qualifying record 3 times, with Gary Scott emerging as the new record holder of 23.50. The first year rookie dominated his heat race with an easy win. The 14th annual running of the 20 lap Ascot National saw Gary take the lead from .Triumph mounted Tom Rockwood in lap 10 to open a substantial lead and take the win. It was Triumph 1 & 2. 1st year Junior and West Coast half-mile points leader Tom Horton added .to the Triumph victory vyith his commanding win in the 14 lap Junior main event. Throughout the years, again and again, many riders have raced many Triumphs to many victories. These repeated victories are made possible by Triumph engineering. The meticulous detail and exacting construction incorporated into each Triumph motorcycle helps distinguish them as the finest competition machines ever built.
