IN------------- by Loretta Davidson TURLOCK, OAKDALE, LOD!, CAL., Sept. 1,2,3,4,1972 - This Labor Day weekend found four clubs putting together a four race Short Track series including a High Poin t Trophy run. Hopefully this will change things for him. In the 250 Expert ranks, the competition is hot and is gelling hotter as the poin t race for the top twen ty is growing tighter every week. Action in District 36 is like a pro circuit in itself with the riders competing three, four and five times a week. Some good clean racing was brough t about with the likes of Bu tch Davidson, Alex Jorgensen, Ray Huff, Bruce Brown, David Pestoni, Rocky Malynn, Mark Asbill and Mark· Muscio. to mention just a few. Butch had a runaway with the action going his way Friday nigh t. David Pestoni, doing a beautiful job, captured the win Saturday night holding off Butch the full distance. Alex with everything together beat out the troops for a nine-point win Sunday night and Ray Huff, to show everyone that the old man of racing can do it still, wo.n Monday. 1 could go on and on abou t the different riding techniques and styles, the great slides and passes by these guys but we have to SlOp somewhere. The High Point trophies ended up a tie between Butch Davidson and Mark Asbill. Mark didn't win any firsts but rode consistently to end up one of the two on top. There's never a dull moment at any of the races. The riders are the ones to make the show. Let's give the riders the support th,,¥, need and a show of applause for their efforts.
