500 Support Class - - - - - - Michigan rider Mike Hartwig rode to
easy wins in both motos of the Open
Support class. Competition in the form
of Chris Berg (I-Ius), Lee Miller (Mai),
Dave Leach (CZ). and Paul Duncan
(Kaw) appeared early in each event but
the smooth, quick style of Hartwig was
unbeatable.
The closest race in either of the two
events was a Berg-Miller duel in the last
eigh t laps of Moto two that ended with
the two riders taking the checkers side
by side in mid-air. The scorers called it a

Bob Ismailof rode to two fourth
placings to take a fourth overall on his
Maico. Barry Higgins had his new
Yankee, only to have engine seizure to
start the day off wrong. Quick pit work
put the bike on the line. for both motos
but it never ran correctly.
