C en USMRC Motocross - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - O and it was a fight.to.the.finish for se<;ond. The Maico marauder beat out Malone's Ajay. but apparently Morris swore "No more." He came back to take the final two motos and the 250 win. Lunde was second, riding ez , and Mosier third. Gary Cochell had a clear field in the 500. Richard Duncan found himself second and Bob Madden followed in third. For the Intermediates, it was Dave Bradley (lIus) over john Burkey (Yam). 'F-im Marimon (Hod) took over the 100 junior I. johanna Stenersen found herself without a 100, so she borrowed a mini to ride LO second in the Junior Schoolboy class. Ken Morgan beat her out for first, both on Hondas, naturally. The In termediate Schoolboys had Rick Parker to show them how to sweep a class. Meanwhile Gene Woods (Ind) went along for the ride as the only Expert choolboy. The 125 juniors were swept up by two very talented riders. How about a match race between Mark VanCamp (Suz) and Morgan Homesley (Sachs). They cleaned ou t Divisions I and 11 respectively. Scott Bodkin (Suz) took another 500 Junior win, this time over Worchester Trantor (CZ) and Roger Kline (Hus), two new faces at EI Toro. They'll be back to try their luck in the final weeks of the Series. • by Pat Gross EL TaRO, CAL., Sept. 22. 1972 Going into the fifth week of the Mabee's Tire Series, a three·way tie has developed for first point spor. Dave Messersmith, Bryan Menne, and Don Stenersen are fighting it out tooth and nail. Dave again won the 250 junior, Bryan swept the 100 junior II, and Don stormed the 250 Intermediate. But Don may have the series won on motos. Poin t ties will be settled by the number of individual races won. USMRC's Experts were busily racking up poin ts, with Dave Carlson no exception. Davy sailed in the 100 as usual. Brad Salata was hard put to keep in second in thiS Yamaha·dominated class. In fact, it's a lucky thing for Brad that Kevin Crawford is an Intermediate. Otherwise Kevin would have taken home more than the 100 Intermediate trophy. Davy returned to the 125 to take a near~s\Veep. Bruce Baron's third mota win put in second, and Ray Lopez (Monark) brough t up third. Dave Daum (Bul) took the 125 Intermediate first over'Pat Perkins (Yam). The 250 Expert turned out to be this week's thriller. Chuck Lunde started out very strong, but with plenty of pressure from Morris Malone. It became apparent Malone was on the receiving end of equal pressure from Gaylon Mosier (Mai). By the time the checkered nag came out, Lunde was securely in first Z 275X17 300X17 325X17 300X18 350X18 400X18 4OOX19 REG 113.95 14.95 16.95 14.95 17.95 19.95 19.95 REG 400X18 122.Q5 460X18 23.95 400X19 22.95 NOW 110.95 11.95 12.95 11.95 14.95 15.88 15.88 SALE 118.95 19.95 18.95 a:: ~ CHAMPION I C PLUGS G~pL~R:t I ~ "" ':aD.
