With the winds blowing a desert of dust across the course, No. 72j, the leader four times running, was not only able to see the course, but ride it well too. Marshall had Mike jennings, to contend ",ith in the 125cc Expert Class. Mike, fresh from a win at Cal-Expo last week, had his Husky running smooth and fast. That style just didn't do it for Mike when Charlie Marshall decided to get out front and stay there. And that was the way it was for two motos. Charlie in first, on his DKW with Mike doing a smooth pressure trip on him in the second spot. In the Open Expert event, Charlie Marshall, on his Maico, had another fast competitor to go against. Dave Longcor on a Bultaco swapped places with Mr. Marshall for several laps, before setting down to a second place finish with Charlie once again taking the first place flag. When the second moto came up at the end of the day, Allen Yarrow and Dave Langcor figured the one to heat was Marshall. It was very close around the dustbowl with Marshall leading until the last lap flag was pu t out, at which time Dave, right behind Charlie, did an imitation of a crossed-up, speedway comer tri.ck and lost it in the dust. Unfortunately for Dave, his day was over when he simply couldn't continue the race and ended up with a DNF for the f'mal race. Allen Yarrow just kept charging from the third position to a second place f'mish behind Charlie Marshall, giving the fourth win for the day to No. 72j.
