·-------~---~-~-~-------~~-~-~-- Draggin' On Up -:ll t ... ... N • - ! ~ w Z w .... (J > (J Funny looking motorcycle, you say? Well, yes it it. It says "Action Fours" on the side and has a Honda 750 engine. But where is the disc brake? The front forks show a rather extreme rake and feature two front tires (All the rage among the chopper freaks this year we understand), Notice that the machine has both a sissy bar (right behind the rider's head) and a rather bizarre luggage rack. The official likes it, he's whistling. Perhaps you lie awake nights wondering what the editors of big important moty-sikle magazines do in their spare time. Well, Clarence Neilson (known to his friends and-readers as Cook), the editor or "Cyde" magazine whiles away the hours burning up the drag strip. Zoom. Cook is a Buy-American freak when it comes to motorcycles, but his shoes look Italian. How does it handle in the comers? Sunday, September 10, at Fremont Raceway, the nation's top motorcycle dragsters will gather for the Bay Area's first Fuel and Gas Drag Bike Championships. On hand will be the nation's fastest and quickest fuel drag bike owned by Boris Murray. Murray h'as hit 174 plus mph, taking just 8.83 seconds to travel down the quarter mile. Other fuel bikes expected are the big inch Harley Davidson of Dave Campos, Sonny Raslowski and his 108 cubic inch H-D, with Ralph Muldoon debuting his new twin engine fuel Honda 4. The' gas class will feature Bill Hahne and the Action Fours record-holding "2X4" Honda. Ron Teason and Bill Bernard will run their twin motored Honda uBill's Buzz Saw". All AHRA National Bike records will be open and, in fact, most will fall. From AA/FB to the lowest stock class, everybody is welcome. The Fremont bike is legendary and all the bikes will be dialed in to kill. Sluuing the ticket will be the jumping team of Davis and Blackwell. Many jumpers clajrn to have the u1timat~ jump record. However, Davis and Blackwell jump from opposite sides and cross in mid-air! Sunday, September 10, Fremont Raceway presents the Bay Area's first Fuel and Gas Drag Bike Championships. Gates open at 9:00 a.m.; eliminations begin at 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $3 on the spectator side with children under twelve free when accompanied by an adult, $5 on the pit side with children under twelve $2.
