Dirt.DiggerS North Motocross _ _ by Patrick Neil SACRA MENTO , CAL., Aug. 27, 1972 - It was all the way for two brother s, Bob and Billy Grossi, this Sunday at the Cal Expo Fairgro unds Motocro ss put on by Dirt Diggers North MC. In the Open Expert motos, Bob Grossi (Hus) jumped out in front on the starts and just flat out pulled away for 20 minutes , winning both motos. The second place fmisber , Dave Langho m, pursued the leader for a while, but was maintai ning for the most part to guarant ee a "for sure" second. The course was amazing ly fast with the dust kept to a minimu m. As a matter of fact, the course was so fast for one fellow (Grossi) that he was able to lap all but.two riders in the last moto. For Billy, it was a Ii ttIe tougher . In the 125 Expert class, Billy was beat in the first moto with Pete Scarlett on a __ ~~ ~~;";;, ,,; - _ ... ~ ... Penton leading Grossi through half the race. Grossi manage d to get by the Amateu r but couldn 't catch Mike Jenning s, the leader. Howeve r, on the second round, Bill tried some of his brother 's tactics, grabbin g the lead at the very start and staying there for the remaind er of the moto. Mike Jenning s took a second, giving Bill the win for the day, with the fastest times. In the 250 Expert event, Bill Grossi took a first place leading the field from the start as Jim Turner (CZ) kept the thase going at a quick pace. Jim Turner was able to take away the chance of a sweep by the Grossis when Billy's bike started soundin g strange in to the frrst lap, leaving Bill almost a lap down for the remaind er of the race, thus giving Turner the final flag for the win.
