There were enough thrill-seeking 750 riders to have their own race. At first, Rudy Ramos held the lead but got passed by speed wobbling Jim Cordero. Jim built up a sizable lead but lost two places when he came to a halt due to a f1 ag waving misunderstanding. He regained the lead but again lost two places "(hen -a late braking Rudy Ramos collided with him, so Cordero had to be satisfied with. the third spot and a good hard ride. . - In another good production battle the 350's and 500's went at it. The victory was a runaway for the Kawasaki Mach 3 of CJ. Gulgash but the second spot wasn't as easily settled. Bob Crossman, Bill Spurlock and Ted Gransburger all contested the second spot with the fmal lap decision going to the 500 Honda Gansbcrger. Spurlock and Crossman made a repeat of their last encounter here, taking one and two in the 350 class respectively. The 250 race saw another battle down to the wire. First in the lead in his first 250 race was Karl.Cleeton. McNeil, on a Kawasaki, finally beat Fred out. There were only five entries in the 350 GP but one dropped out and the others paired off, giving the spectators a good show, even if it was only twice a lap. In their scrap for flTst the winner George Miller and Mike Wenzel lapped the other pair, one of them being Craig Hanson on a Pacesetter. It's a Honda based.bike and it sounded really fmc. The biggest GP field was the lightweight with a wire to wire win for Dave Scott and his Dunsco special, while this writer took second. An added attraction at Vacaville are the hooligan races, where the production boys mix - it up with the GPers. A fast Dennis Pegelow took the heavyweight hooligan on his Mach 4, followed by the GP Triumph of Ross Putnam. The lightweight hooligan went to this writer's 125 Yamaha a mere bike length ahead of Fred Walti's production 250 Suzuki. Those racers who may not have raced because of the bad condition on the track will be glad to hear i: will be repaved before the end of the year, unfortunately after the September 24 250 mile production race.
