Start of'the Junior Main: Scott Brelsford (84Y) takes the outside line as Joseph Brown (192) leads Jim Einarsson, Mike Caves (2P).Tom White 42R) and Ted Poovey (42M) into turn one. V had a few glorious moments. By Gary Van Voorhis Jim Einarsson (H.D) led a flag-to-f1ag sweep of the Junior IT at Peoria, but not without competition. Peoria favorite Mike Caves (Tri) chased Einarsson for the last eigh t laps but found his motor no match for the Harley on the long fron t straigh 1. Caves co.ntinual1y closed on the tight back section, over the jump, and through the curving right-left esses only to have Einarsson tum on the ,!,ick every time the start finish line came in to view. Off the line in the fmal it loooked as if top Junior Scott Brelsford might be out to pick up another win, but his lead out of turn two lasted only until the jump when the private Harley blasted the factory one for the lead. ,Brc;l$fof(! stayed close- for two laps bu t then began to lose ground and found himself challenged by Caves. On lap four Berlsford shut off Caves' bid for second coming out of tum three and pulled him down the straight. Caves didn't learn a thing as he pulled the same attack again on the next lap and moved into second place, setting his sights on Einarsson. The partisan crowd began to come alive as Gaves moved within striking distance of Einarsson's Harley. Caves closed the gap with aggressive, hard riding - flying over the jump and diving into the comers as deeply as possible. He made. up ground on the tigh t sections, only to lose it on the power straight. Brelsford motored on in third a safe distance from Joe Brown (Yam), and Tom White (Tn), 'who were havinll' ' tight contestior fourth position. Einarsson set fast Junior time to take the pole, only to find himself starting from the penalty line after a little too much pre-flag creeping. It took only a lap and a half for Einarsson to put himself safely in the lead ..
