The new engine, according to organization co-head Larry MacEachern. "will be an updated version of the world's first superbike, the 1000cc Vincent Black Shadow." Unlike most motorcycle manufacturers, Courage Vincent Co. will in.itialJy market only a single model, a 1250cc twin. "We're going for a single market," MacEachern said, Hand that's the performance market." For the first year, the Vincent will be offered only as an engine- transmission-electric package, with frames, front ends, and other accessories available seperately from Courage. While not advertising any horsepower or torque claims, the Vincen t, according to MacEacherrn "will offer a 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds, a quarter mile time of 11.9 seconds, and a top speed of 144 mph." Approximately 1200 engine packages will be available in 1973, marketed through a nation-wide chain of Courage Vincent dealers. The package is set te retail at around $1370.
