WES COOLEY RUNS QUICK , WELL
By Art Friedman
WILLOW SPRINGS, CAL., Aug. 6,
1972 - West Coast road racing owes
quite. a bit to Wes and Beverly Cooley,
the people who run the ACA. The
Cooleys have fostered California road
racing since its youth and brought it
through some hard times. They put on a
remarkably well-organized, unhassled,
and flexible program that works for the
racers at a low price. They have done
much to make California riders the
force to be reckoned with that they are.
Despite horrible heat here today the
.
ACA promoted a fast, well-organized
event. It was so hot that if you fell off
the greatest danger was being fried to
death on the hot pavement.
The 50cc Senior event found itself
with a big name today. Tony Nicosia,
famed Kawasaki quarter-mile man, rode
an Ital-Jet to second in the 50cc event
behind Dan Osborne who was riding
faster on another Ital-]et. Brian Shiers
on a Suzuki from House of Suzuki did
in the whole field of 100cc Senior
motor-bikes.
