~ l '" Indian Dunes Junior MX - - VALENCIA, CAL., July 22, 1972 - l;; The tuning efforts of Revell Speed Shop in Sun Valley were responsible for a pair winners during today's ACE motocross racing on the Shadow Glen « course at Indian Dunes Park. ~ Billed as an all - Junior wrangle - a ilj prelude to a Professional melee which z had been slated on the Dunes' ~ International track for the following u day - slightly in excess of 155 riders ~ arrived to contest the issue, and found themselves competing in one of ten 'different divisions. While accounting for one of the Revell victories, young Lynn Stokey, a Senior/Expert moto warrior (who was taking his first ride for the sponsoring Sun Valley speed establisbmen t, and who was being featured in a special ACE exhibition match of skill) cracked the standing one-lap G len track record by nearly one second! Stokey, ranked as one of the better go-fast guys on the West coast, was straddling a 360 Yamaha for today's effort. The other Revell-tuned win was furnished by Greeves-mounted Danny Burt, an en tran t amongst a large field of 250 Beginners, as be swept to two long-yardage triumphs in his three motos. And Burt, a possessor of more than a mere modicum of genuine combat talent, will be a young man to chart in the future! In 100 Junior +4 battle, 10·year old Mike Brown - a former sensation in minibike ranks at the Dunes - scored a victory in two heat races. Robin Gorham, astride one of the new six-speed Monarks, grand-slammed a group of 125 +4 riders. While Jim Bauer, Junior points leader at Indian Dunes, and Johnny Fenton, who was sliding a new motorcycle' for Suzuki Van Nuys, grabbed the biggest brass for the more experienced 250 and Open Juniors. Add thirty other Experts in the 125 and 500 Expert classes, plus one hundred and eighty Juniors and Intermediates, and you just know it's going to be another evening of fun and frolic with the Looney Lions Fast Cats. AMC Indian Ounes---- _ Greg took top honors for the day with John and Gordon finishing second and third respectively. The 250 Junior gb-around was a run-away with Bill Conroy on a Maico winning all three motos. Bill is a consistent winner at the AMC events and probably has a good chance to be in contention for that Yamaha prize for the three-month series. Koridon Andrew was second on a Maico and Jon Miller took a third with his CZ. Kirk Willis (Hus) won overall in the 500 Junior race. He was followed by Bob Dykwans on a CZ and Greg Blackwell on his Husky. Greg didn't -shine as much on his 400 Husky as he did on the one-two-five. Possibly due to his size, as he isn't nearly as big as his brother Mark. By Randy Dietzel VALENCIA, CAL., July 29, 1972 Indian Dunes has to be one of the worst places to spend a Saturday considering the heat that has been scorching greater Los Angeles as of late, but AMC's young "super-stars" were out in force to show that motorcycling is worth it. The course was extremely dry and dusty (so what else is new). Sno-eones and gatorade prevailed. The 125 Junior class was dominated by Greg Blackwell on a Husky. In case the name doesn't ring a bell, he's Mark younger brother. Greg looked real sm 00 th as he diced with John Dickenson (Pen) and Gordon Newman (BuI). Talent must run in the family as y- .fi-
