Z W ..J U > Elkhorn, Wis., July 23, 1972 - Yamaha continues to make Motocross history with the~r fifth straight Inter-AMA International Motocross win! This time it was Yamaha Factory Team rider Hakan Andersson who dominated all three 25-minute 250cc motos for the overall victory. Proving once again that riding the better machine means winning. Andersson took first in moto number one, followed by Gary Jones in second place and Jim Weinert in fourth. The second moto of the day again saw Andersson's aggressive riding style spirit the better Yamaha 250 MX to victory. With Yamaha Factory Team rider Gary Jones knocking off third-place money in a determined performance of riding skill and machine superiority. And, once Andersson had the lead on lap ten of the third and finalmoto, he didn't let up until he'd crossed the finish line nearly 30 seconds ahead of the second place rider. Team mate Jim Weinert streaked home third to sew up second place overall. The overall standings were all Yamaha Team Riders; 1,2,3 and 4. Hakan Andersson first, Jim Weinert second, Gary J6nes third and Torsten Hallman fourth. And remember: for every Yamaha that wins, there's a real close cousin you can buy at your Yamaha dealer. In fact, every Yamaha Street Machine, Enduro and MX incorpo!ates the race-winning heritage that has earned them the right to be called "great." Th,e most repeated name on the victory roster• • The great machines for '72 .
