banging it against his brake lever in the

(Man), .Bob Grossi and Gunnar
Lindstrom (Hus) and Dave Bickers (CZ)
gave the race true international flavor.

SUPPORT CLASS
Dennis Law, who was told he would
never ride again after a broken neck,
won the Support Class at Elkhorn. Law
pu t together a fine ride on his Enduro
Enterprises Maico to capture the final
and take overall.

Barry Higgins was on the scene with
his Yankee, assuring everyone that the
jetting problems at Unadilla had been
cured. Higgins was not prepared for the
problem that struck this. time. The
frame broke in half between the wheel
Gary )ones, third.
and the gas tank while Higgins was
running third, sending him flying but
unhurt.
James Shotten (CZ) wasn't so lucky
as he came up with a broken leg in his
crash. Various others were shaken up in
crashes resulting from trees and near
misses with spectators crossing the
track.
Gary Chaplin (M'j.i) was running his
usual race out front in the first qualifier,
pulling away from Law, Gary Ingham
(Mai) and Lars Larsson (Hus) at the flag.
Bob Ismailof (Mai) finished fifth after
dropping back from third.
In mota two, DeWayne Jones (Yam)
and Wyman Pi-iddy (CZ) stageq a "swap
the lead" duel until Jones tired of that
and began to open up a lead of 25
seconds at the finish. Priddy stuck in
second with Roger Peterson (Mai) third,
John Borg (Bul) in fourth and Jeff
Wecker (CZ) rounding out the first five.
