U At the finish the first three riders wcre a quarte.r of a lap ahead of Joyner, Aldana and Mann. Aldana and Mann had thejr own private duel most of the way in somewhat of a re-match [rom two years ago. Aldana was always in front with Mann waiting for the opening that never came. ~ Scott got his win. gJvmg Triumph their third victory of the season. It was the first time in the history of the race that a rookie had won. It also chopped down the pain t gap between Brelsford and Scott. Mark was never in contention this time and finished a distan t eigh th. Four of the previous Junior National winners were at Castle Rock and three made the fifteen lap final. Tom White (Tri) carried the honors for California with fast time and fast heal. Northwest hopes were pinned on Harley rider. Jim Einarsson and Yamaha Junior. Steve Baker. Einarsson topped Baker, winnIDg the second fastest heat race. Texan Jim Rawls (BSA) won the third heat. Al the line for the Main, officials determined that White rolled across the line. White then was moved to the third line over the howls from the crowd. Tom was saved from certain defeat when Washington's Sam Martin flipped end over end on the second lap, forcing the red flag ou t. White was further aided at the re-start when the officials had a change of heart and put him back up on the pole. But it was hard luck for Einarsson who has been burning up the 10calTI tracks thjs year. Something broke on hjs machine and he failed to re turn to the line in time for the re-start. Rawls jumped into the lead, looking for his second win. White was second, grabbing the lead on the first tum of lap five. He was on his way. Salem Junior winner, Jim Crenshaw, got by Rawls on the tenth lap but there was no catching fi~Tom~pa:::g:::-e 2?Oi9) White who cut his teeth on this type of track. Crenshaw and Rawls made it interesting for second place all the way to the finish. Baker took top honors for the Northwest with a close fourth. NATIONAL TT Castle Rock-J Wash.
