R.A.c.E. Corona MX-----------------------~ .....- - - N AJS MOTOCROSS MONEY & Contingency money means money in your pocket if you do what some AJS riders are doing: winning. No, you don't have to beat the "big" boys, that comes later. But in the meantime, do what Marvin Braun did. He went from Novice to Expert and in less than six months won five events which entitled him to a check for $125 from Norton Villiers Corp., distributors for AJS and Norton motorcycles. The Y41 ridden by Marvin was prepared by Jack Malone of Stormers Ltd., whose son Morris is well known to MX riders. Details of the contingencies paid can be obtained by writing to Norton Villiers Corp., 6765 Paramount Blvd., Lon~ Beach, Calif. 90805. N ~ .... en N ~ > ~ ~ w Z W ..J U >U ESCAPE COUNTRY MX By Mike Capalite ESCAPE COUNTRY, CAL., July 9, 1972 - Despite the fact that just winning a trophy will move you out of the 'firs.t day' class at Escape Country, the entries kept pouring in. By inaugurating this special division in each class, the promoters at Escape Country have touched an untapped field of riders. Any 'first day' rider who wins a trophy is automatically moved up to the Beginner class. This gives some hope to the true 'first day' rider that his tum will come after the "cherry pickers" are weeded out. An unusual note was the doubling of entries in the Mini-Enduro class over their event two weeks ago. It was David Fier on his Honda who put it on Andy Sixbery and Jeff Bowens, both Yamaha·mounted. Brian Tarvin (Yam) topped the Mini·Enduro Beginner class. The 100cc First Day class went to Waymond Williams (Yam) as he was top man in all three motos ahead of second place David Perez (Hon) and Bob Schmidt (Yam). In the 100cc class, it was Dan Buie (Yam) getting the Beginner honors. Wayne Frasier was top Novice. The action in the 125cc First Day class was hot and heavy as Scott Brow inched into first place by two points with a 2·3·1 finish in his three motos to ace out Steve Hester on his American Eagle.
