TROJANTT ANI' F T - - - - - - - - - By Art Loya SOUTH GATE, CAL., June 22, 1!)72 Jamey Blunt and Dan Corbett shared the winner's circle Thursday nigh t at Trojan Speedway following their 250 Main victories in TT and FT. Despite the lack of some of the leading riders, wins for both Blunt and Corbett did not come easy as a result of less experienced riders who were determined to show their ability. Blunt, winner of last week's 50-lap TT, was hard pressed by Corbett in the TT feature for the entire eight laps. Corbett was pursued by Clyde Grizzle (Bul). Twisting, sliding, and flying high, Blunt and his Ossa, performed flawlessly to stay ahead of Corbett (Bul), Grizzle, James Summers (Yam). and Steve Moir (Oss). In the 250 FT Main, Corbett caught Blunt napping at the starting line to take an early lead. To no one's surprise, Bob Sanders and his potent Kawasaki accounted for lJIe remaining four Mains, winning the 100 11 and FT; 125 IT and FT features. It would be interesting to see just how good some riders who have never competed at Trojan migh t look while challenging Sanders. In 125 FT action, the main battle was for second between Vern Maxwell (Bul), and Robert Crecelius (Yam). Both riders provided a show with Wiley Miller (Kaw) trailing the pair. With Sanders setting the pace in the 12511 Main, Allen "Buckwheat" Swett (Suz), Bob Byars (Suz), and Dave Lujan (Kaw) , wnc;t at it hot and heavy with Maxwell (Bul). getting in on the act in the final laps of a IO-rider field. In placing second, Swett showed flashes of becoming one of the top riders in the near future, but still lacks polish making his passes in close quarters._ _ > :; .., 0':;'A,.~ • MOT ac Rass MODEL $32.00 pair • <;,,- U
