BARSTOW • LAS VEGAS RACE
FOR THE 4th STRAIGHT YEAR
ON A NEW HUSKY 4S0cc PROTOTYPE
It's getting to be more than a habit. J.N. Roberts is first again in the 1971 Barstow-Las
Vegas run, making it four "straight victories in the world's biggest motorcycle race. Every
year, his Husky has come up with that extra horsepower he needed to win. In '68, he scored
aboard a 250ce Husqvarna Moto Cross. In '69, he escalated to win with a 360ce Husky. In
70, he rode to win on a 400cc. It's only fitting that in 71, he should have traded up to the
biggest Husqvarna yet - a 450cc Cross Country prototype.
Last year, he only had to beat 2,000 tough competitors on some pretty good bikes. This
year, he had to work harder, against more than 3,000 riders.
This year, however, he had some extra help, right along with the additional displacement,
this year's Husqvarna turned out the torque with a brand-new five-speed, wide ratio gear
box - with more !!l!t-away in the low gears, more top speed in fourth and fifth gear.
See the new Huskies at the upcoming Cycle Shows. They're all winners.
