Tension was replaced blueb erry with easy laughter. The dinky crowd, a c rowd , bit lazy and removed from the day's lazy th e activities, was spiced with a small ac t ivit ies, contingent of females who occasionally co ntin gent w ho o ccasionally gave a rousing cheer for their favorite racers, more often than not Gene Romero. Many racers, such as Romero R om e ro . race rs, R om ero and Don Castro, brough t out their Castr o , brought second-stringers while others played sec ond-stringers with experimental equipment.
