Prudomme, whO is ranked as head-honcho among the rail-rattlers in the National Hot Rod Association, was a pooped 'crosser after just a few laps of Open Junior competition - even though he had progressed up to a respectable 5th position' - commented, among other things: .....certainly is a- big difference between tl)is and drag racing These fellows are serious... ! n "The Snake" chose a Husky for his first ride; while his brother, Monette, who was' also making a motocross debut, straddled the saddle of a rapid Yamaha. The overall Open winner was a Junior-ranked rid..,.. named Bill Payne, who scored back-to-back wi,." in an impressive, grand slam effort on his Maico. Honda-mounted Robert Brown scored a first and third in collectU;g the big trophy for the 100cc Juniors in the Novice classification; while top Powder-Puffer, Cherry Stockton, rode her Bultaco to a win over the 100cc beginners.
