No- Tequila for Skov By James Brammer SANTA ROSA, CAL., Aug. 28,1971 It is not so that Carroll Skov bums tequila in that Carabela with which he won the I25cc Junior class at the Chris Beck Arena. Insiders say he has a Yamaha rod and an Ttalian made magneto partly responsible for the tremendous defeat he dealt competitors in the Amateur short track races sponsored by the North Bay M.C. He was leading a quarter lap at the finish ,)f the IO-lap final. Rich Dashiell added to his track point lead by winning the 250cc Junior final. Steve Kenechtle and Terry Otton led from the start with DeshieU in third. At one time Otton held the lead with a good margin, but he was running high in the comers leaving room for Deshiell to gain and come by on the inside. Near the flnish all three riders rubbed elbows in the comers. Russell Miller left an air gap open between machine and the inside line where Mike Fleming slithered through to pass three riders and then go on to win the 175cc Novice final. Several riders took turns leading in the 250cc Expert final with eventual winner, Mike O'Brien moving up from third being chased by Fenn Pervier. Larry Drew passed Pervier to flnish second.
