Sunday dawns brigh t and clear and
the parade from downtown Wendover
begins the 12-mile ride to the pit area
on the salt.
A riders meeting is held at the eight
mile sign so everyone can see exactly
how the course is marked and what
terrible shape all but three miles of the
salt is in.
.
With typical questions asked and
answered at the riders meeting, the main
speaker is Bob Higbee, the SCTA starter
who has a powerful voice and is in
command during race time. Emil
Grissotti, the current president of the
SCTA, is present to answer technical
questions about cars and Bruce Flanders
fields a few questions on bikes.

Class
Don Sliger from South Gate, Calif.,
poured the co~ to his 750 Royal
Enfield and went 161.57 on fuel with a
class "C" framed RE.
Another outstanding shot for the day
was ,?oral Eckhardt on his intrepid
!luzuk!. He ran 99.66 qualifying against
a record of 81.103, not blinding speed
until you realize that it is from a 100cc
!like at 4000 feet elevation.
. Wednesday's record runs went well
and 16 new records were set. The
headline run on this moming had to be
Warner Riley who set a new record in
APS·A-3000 at 200:298 which put him
in the \Olub and makes him the 11 th
person in the world to ever exceed 200
MPH on a bike. Warner didn't run
