International Report ••• Joel Robert, the 27-year-old Belgian who just won his fifth 250 world championship, increased his record of Grand Prix wins to 42. He has won six GPs this year, including the most recent Swedish GP, and with two rounds left, he has a chance of having a perfect season. (There are 12 rounds of competition and the best seven count towards overall score.) ....South Australian competitors are going to have to wear hair nets - approved, yet - if their hair is of dangerous length ....The whole thing started out as a joke. Fonner BSA rider John Banks clinched the British 500cc Championship on a Husqvarna. Ironically, Banks later said, "I rode like an old woman....... Rod Gould, current 250 world road racing champion, and Phil Read, fonner leader in this year's points standings, are having quite a go. Gould has been having a poor year on his works Yamaha while Read looked to be doing quite well on his. Suffering a broken shoulder last month, Read is slowly makinll( a comeback but Gould now has a narrow point lead. At the recent Grand Prix, Gould only took sixth but it was enough to put him at the top as poor Phil broke a crank pin while in second, with 15 miles of the 1~2 to go....Peter Willia~ won the 350 classic aboard a 300cc MZ, which blew a few mtnds.... Paul Smart turned down an offer to ride a 102 hp 750 Munch 4. Three Clean Owlhoot Enduro LOS ANGELES. CAL., Aug. 23, 1971 - Setting some kind of a record for promptness, The Checkpoints M.C. has announced the winners of their recently held "Owlhoot" enduro. For those of you who didn't attend, this was an excellently-run nigh t enduro of moderate difficulty hell on Aug. 14th past. Some riders experienced difficulty on the second section of the run due to some missing arrows. Some one soon began directing the riders at the turn so fortunately, the difficulty didn't last. However, Cycle News has received a letter identifying at least one person who was seen kicking down the course arrows. As soon as the letter can be verified, his name and his club will be published and a copy of the letter will b .. appropriate action.
