"art \N I N Bob Sanders, an explosive performer with crowd-pleasing style, baa turned into an impeccably polished rider. After winDing fIVe of six Main Events tonight at Trojan Speedway, he is clearly a rider with enormous promise for the big time. Ironically. Sanders' biggest win in the 250 Flat Track Main was the result of an all-out effort.' He took the checkered on a Yamaha sponsored by Ron L's Motorcycle Parts Be Accessories that had earlier lost third gear. Coming from behind, Sanders took the bigh groove to pass Dan Corbett and his Bu1taco on the third lap, aIld then had to race his rival every inch of the way for the win. Third was Tom Berry (BuI). In the junior class, Gary Tanner (Mai) . won over Bob Crecelius (Kaw) and Pat Murphy (Bul). In a SCIUC, you might lilly that this was Bob Sanders' Night at Trojan as the Whittier Comet raced to four other Main Event victoria: the 100, 125 TI MaiDa, and a dean sweep of all Ihrec F.T.Mains. After a restart of the 250 TI Main, Bob Byan (01lS). met the best that Dave Amtmbide (Oss) had to offer in the way of a challenge and went on to win over the Ventura ace, Corbett (BuI), and Craig Steigler (BuI). In the junior class, it was Tanner again in for the win. this time o.-er jim Miller (Oss), and Murphy (BuI). During the running of the 100 TI Main, Tom Doty and Charles Summers tangled coming out of the TI course and into the oval. While the field of the 12-rider main attempted to miss both riders, Doty, made his way to the sidelines, but Summers was removed by pit personnel and then take to Downey Commity Hospital for obllervation and X-rays. In the 250 TI Trophy Dash, Byan (Oss) and Paul Coberly (BuI) put OIl a humdinger of a race for the lead with Byan winDing it after several exchanges for the front spot. As if this was not enough for the fans, Rick Goade (BuI), and Sanden (Yam) fried to out-do the Byan-Cobcrly performance in the F.T. 150 Trophy Dash with Goade winDing cner Sanders. Coberly and Rickie White, teamed up to win the Buddy Race, a popular event with the fans, winning over Chris Davisson and Tony Scrota.
