Robert LaFontaine, riding a Penton, was consistent with three second place finishes to take home a second. The Beginners class as usual had a lot of action, spills and three different winners. Hodaka mounted John Campbell won the first mota and then managed two seconds for the overall win. Mike Bolin, riding a DKW, took second. This Beginners class is limited to new riders and as soon as they win three trophies they are advanced to the regular 125cc class. John Campbell and Dennis Pickles (5th place) are getting close. Anyone wanting to get a start at racing is invited to try this class and the only limitation is an engine size not exceeding 125. The 5000 gallons of oil put on the track did wonders for dust control on half of the track. Now, if the club can find some more oil somewhere, they can do the rest of the track to have the most dust free motocross track in the state. Next motocross events scheduled are, August 22nd, SepL 12th, Oct. 3rd, and November 14th. Starting time noon, located 3 miles West of Bend on the Shevlin Park Road. Riders arc invited to come over Saturday to practice, trail ride, and camp over night at the track. For info call (503) 389·1966 or 382'{)542.
