(Continued from page 3) Bryan did an 'endo' on the first lap thanks to a mid-air nudge by another rider, and teammate Higgins coUided into the mass pile-up. The third moto Barry got a good start, and Bryan a bad one. Barry rode well til he tired, and Bryan continued picking off the clientele. With such a good showing as they both put on at times, team 1971 will do some charging. England won the race with Hickman, Nicoll and Lee at the rudder. AMXT Project 1971 under way thanks to all your help out there in making it possible_ Can't wait to let you know how it progresses. Til then, Snowflake VOICES (Continued from page 4) MORE ON BONNEVILLE In keeping with the MIC and AMA wishes, I would like to pass on this little note about Bonneville 71. All pit bikes and play bikes will be required to be silenced or they will stay in the pickups during Speedweek. As everyone can well understand there wi11 be members of national and international press along with many rubber-necking onlookers at this even t. These individuals can understand a super-noisey land speed record holding motorcycle but in the common interests of less sound and more ground the mini-enduros and the like will be silenced. Speedweek is shaping up to big proportions this year. The largest field to ever pre-enter and six 0 f th ose are streamliners capable of (on paper) breaking H.D.'s record. It should be interesting. The dates are August 22-28 for those who may be in the area. The motels have been full since May and if anyone else plans to go they had best bring camping gear. BRUCE FLANDERS Pasadena, Calif. FIGHT FOR HAPPINESS About six months ago I participated in two CMC motocrosses at Saddleback Park. During the practice session I was traveling at a rather slow speed around a tricky corner to find a path that suited me, which is really what practice is all about. While coming out of the comer I was hit in the rear and locked together with an over-exuberant rider, bring us both to the ground. His speed was considerably faster as compared to mine and his path through the corner was evidently iden tical to mine aJs~. !Ie picked up his bike as he was kicking mine out of the way and yelled comments directed to the fact that it was vecause of my stupidity we had crashed. If 1 was at fault 1 do not know but I did say I was sorry which was only drowned by his loud comments. Now I read of a locked-bar fight between Experts John DeSoto and Mike Cram and a fight by John to gain revenge over his fellow rider. I don't race as a profession but hardly see any fun in figh ting so rudely and unsportsmanlike for first place. It's merely an outlet for pressure and cleaning my head ou t. After a hard week I look forward to a refreshing day at the races to get away from these type of actions so typical of our rat-race world. I haven't raced in over six months now and am not so sure I want to start again after reading this article. Let's all try to keep it clean and show our talent, courage, and rationalization, instead of our stupidity. MARC KRATZER Claremon t, Calif. CMCNo.727 NOW AVAILABLE AT YOUR. You see the speed, the thrill, the violence, and die humor in the sport, and 1 am sure many riders will associate themselves with some of the scenes shown. The kids wi11 be entranced with the scenes of their heroes. Hopefully, the general public will now re~ze tha~ ~e motorcyclists are humans WIth families, with feelings, and that they aren't all bad. Be sure to see it! GINNY HUNTER La Habra, Calif. Yeah, we sort of approve of it. Fair warning: one stiffer saw it for the second time, at a drive-in. He repons that it's not nearly as good, what with the small screen, screaming kids, et<:_. Ed. •
