During the final three Juniors fen off but none were injured. Roberts defeated Scott in the opening heat race and Bill Morgan came up the winner over Moore in the second ten.lapper. The second heat found Loyal Penn locking handlebars with another rider coming off the line. Penn, the Loudon Junior winner in June, went down and was run over by at least two other riders. Mike Kidd from Texas and Tom Phillips also crashed in the chain reaction spill and the race was halted. Penn and Kidd were taken to Riverside General Hospital. Loyal has severe head injuries and was on the critical list at press time. Kidd is ·not reported to be in serious condition. Th<: Corona half·mile now reverts to weekly regular season racing every Saturday evening. It was the first time a major race event has been held in the area since the days of the Grand Blvd. car races run from 1913 through 1916. Gary Scott tries to cool off after a hot afternoon.
