In his heat, he was able to grab a second spot behind Steve Bast, but coming back in the semi, he latched onto the win to give him some good backing by the fans for the Main EvenL In the Main Event, it was Nick Nicolaides jumping into the lead with WiUiams second and J De Fitzpatrick in third while the other three ridml, Sonny Nutter, Steve Bast and Larry Shaw were all starting from the GO-yard line. Bast was first off the GO-yard line, but into the first comer, Steve spun out as Nutter came on the inside. Meanwhile Nick was holding the lead as Williams and Fitzpatrick bumped together in what could have been a bad spill, bu t both pulled away in good shape. Then Nutter dived under both Fitzpatrick and Williams, but as they came back out of the comer, Williams got Nutter back and proceded to pass Nicolaides at the same time to move in to first with Nutter righ t behind in second. In this same comer, Shaw had passed Fitzpatrick while both of them were passing Nich who had drifted too wide after being passed by Ed and Sonny. Nutter poured on the steam to catch Williams, but Ed was able to retain the lead to the checkered flag for the win and his kiss from the trophy girl. The first Division UI Main was straigh t-up and won by Dave McMahon, and devoid of any of the numerous spills usually encountered in these races. The second Division of Main made up for it all, however, as the first lap saw three of the riders go down and two more fallon the second lap after getting the red flag for a restart. After the restart, no less than four more riders went down in the course of the four laps with one rider falling a total of three times, for this one race with six riders, there was a grand total of ten spills, with Barrie Idom taking the win. Although Phil Moon jumped into the lead in the second Division Main on his Vdocette-powered speedway machine, Mike Curoso was able to slip under him on the comer and take over the lead to take it all the way for the win with Moon in second spot and Scott Sivadge taking the number three spot. The Scratch Main Event was a bitter pill to swallow for the many Larry Shaw fans in the stands as Larry had won both his heat and semi and was looking good the whole evening. As the gate went up for the Main. Larry jumped ahead about three feet and that was aU she wrote as he broke his primary chain in the jump off the line. This left the lead to Mike Bast who is looking better this season than he has ever looked as he retained the lead over second spot man Mike Konk for the reaminder of the race.
