Gary Scott desperately tries to catch Ken Roberts in the Junior Main.
Lloyd Houchins went down trying to
miss and was run over fust by Dusty
Coppage and then Tom Rockwood.
Coppage then fell but Rockwood
managed to stay on the wbeels until he
could park against the fence and hobble
to the sidelines.
All but Houchins were back for the
re-start. Williams, using a little more
cool this time did lead the first lap but
gave way to Brelsford on the second
round. From then on it was Mark all the
way to his fourth national win and
second of the '71 season.
Dick Mann qualified for 12th starting
position, outside in the second row of
the final. It made little difference as he
dropped out of the race for the eighth
time in ten years on lap ten, taking
22nd place and no National points.
Eddie Mulder nailed Williams for
second on the fourth lap and then Dave
Aldana moved the Oregon rider back
another notch on lap ten. Then Aldana
set his sigh ts on Mulder but could not
catch and pass until lap 25 at the
halfway mark.
Early contender Mike Haney dropped
by the wayside in and out of third spot
after the Lap 30 mark, just one of many
riders to come u with mechanical
Victorious Mark Brelsford after his second National win of the year.
Bob Bailey holds the inside line' with Don Emde foreed outside. B.ley finished 20th and picked up his first Points of the ~n.
