Much of the time you could see for miles and miles and more than a little of the coune got "straightened out" becavse the riders could see the leaders three miles ahead, so they didn't bother with the lime and ribbon. They just went in a straight line. Most of the course was extremely fast. There were lots of whooJHIe-doos and the kin () J,N, has .witched to tll&-Shirts for the summer, but he still likes the .ame old checkered flag. No. 631MX, Delbert R. Pragnell was first lightweight and No. 357X, Eddie Whiteside, was second. AU results aJ'e unofficial until confrrmed by the Desert Foxes. Everyone that I spoke to had a good time at the Foxes' race and used terms like "bitchin'" and "outasight" to describe the coune. Only those who broke down and tried to find some; shelter from the merciless sun were unhappy. But such are the fortunes of summer desert racing. (Results on page 24) • .8Ja Wins again! Roeseler, an Expert, has totalled 1820 via consistent finishes throughout the first half of the season and holds a fairly strong lead on Mitch Mayes at 1665. Jim Summers, another consistent runner, is third at 1575 while Terry Clark, out for more than a month with a fracture, has returned and sports 1430 points, weD ahead of Randy Milligan's 1160.
