but wailin' Tom Stanford, also Bultaco
mounted, who led Doug longer than
anyone else.
The Stanford brothers all had a piece
of the action with Terry taking the
250cc Novice U and brother Toby
trading his Bul for a lOOcc Kaw. and
turning a faster time than his brothers as
he won the IOOcc Novice I go. Steve
Robb and Lee Petersen were second and
third
'
Bill LaiI, another one who keeps
landing in the winner's circle, took the
Imt Division of 250ce Novices. Roland
Woodworth, a new face, took second
over regular Norm Blake.
Eric Arras came back after a long dry
spell to take the IOOcc 11 go very
decisively. Cliff Brown and Steve Pergin
rounded out the field.
Rex Hailey is getting closer to a Perris
Amateur rating as he came through for
three straight and the win in the third
100cc Novice class. Dan Johnson didn't
follow in brother's footsteps and held it
together for the second spot. Little
Steve Sisco who has been trying so hard,
so long, came out sporting Gene
Romero white leathers and started
riding like him to take the third spot
and a place in the result column.

PERRIS, CAL., June 19, 1971 - Craig
<:i Johnson gave the people a thrill
Saturday night when his bike caught fire

one was more surprised than Craig as he

U
Big Bikers Tony Demus and Andy
Skeel were on hand to do their thing in
the Expert Moto and although Tony felt
he was making a lot of mistakes Andy
had problems staying with him. T~e
third moto saw Skeel get it all together
but on the last tum of the last lap he
made a fatal etTor and Tony slid
through to make it three for three.
Jamey Blunt still keeps rolling up the
wins in the mixed·moto and no one
seems able to stop the combination of
Ossa and Blunt. As Jamey explains it:
"Bultacos usually lose to always
competitive OSIas."
The exception to the usually came in
the 250cc Am/Ex. class where Bultaco
mounted Doug Mason is ruler of the
roost. In this race Ossa mounted J amey
settled for third against not just Doug
