motorcycles have a way of being part of
most every major sport in the business,
whether a me.ans of transportation or
directly involved in it. It wouldn't
surprise me in the least if right now
some cat some where is not coming up
with a scheme to beat the next space
rocket at their own game. More and
more recognition is being given to the
two-wheelers in drag racing by the
major sanctioning bodies. The Second
Annual National Motorcycle Record
Drag Championships are scheduled June
19-20 at Beech Bend International
Raceway, Bowling Green, Kentucky.
This is a sanctioned and insured strip
with record runs on June I 9 and
eliminations June 20 with a guaranteed
purse of $3,000 in cash plus
contingencies. The National Hot Rod
Association will certify all records set in
the event and they will serve as
standards for future competition.

DOLLAR SPANGLED DRAG
RACING ... More and more drag strips
across the nation are paying fancy
purses to bike riders. As a source
revenue and pleasure you may like to
check your local facility, such as some
plants offer big bucks in handicap or
bracket racing and Bike Eliminator. One
of the greatest spectator appeal events
of a given. program is that of handicap
and brack-et racing, whereby ,each
vehicle is inspected and .assigned to a.
particular class, then during competition
each vehicle will be handicapped
according to the national record for that
class. Frequently these strips pay huge
purses so check them ou t and get on
their m ailing list. Orange County
