The young Husky rider was competing in the 125cc Senior class when another rider fell in front of him. "There just wasn't any time to react or avoid hitting him," Grossi said later. "When I came off, I knew something was very, very bad when I saw how deep the gash was in my wrist, he continued, "It didn't hurt at all; it was just numb...and it still is." Grossi was still under pain-killing drugs Saturday night and was visibly weak and pale, due greatly to the amount of blood lost. "The doctor says the cast will be on for four months," he said with a distinct bit of sadness. "They had to put in 60 stitches to close up the wound caused by a compound fracture and a cut from some foreign matter." It could all be taken out Ripley's Believe It Or Not. Bob's younger brother, Bill, also went down today - in almost the same situation - and also broke his left arm. Bill was going up the start hill and near the top, collided with another fallen rider. He came off hard and "cleanly" broke his forearm. He'll be out six weeks. Bill was scheduled to ride the 125cc Senior class on the DKW so Bob decided to take his place. Mounted on the same machine, Bob crashed two hours later. Kim Kimball, founder of the AMXT, commented tonight that he and Bob will be getting together in the next few weeks to decide upon a suitable replacement for the team in Europe. No names were mentioned, however. A complete report on the two days of motocross appears on pages 36-37.
