Sehl Smashes Into Standings

LOUISVILLE, KY., June 5, 1971 Leading for 16 of the 20 laps, smooth
riding Dave Sehl pushed his H-D XL to
victory at the Lousiville 10-mile AMA
ational Championship for the second
consecutive year tonight.
National points leader Dick Mann
took the lead at the start only to have
his BSA break a chain on lap five,requiring the two-time Daytona winner
to watch the rest of the race from the
sideline.
Blistery,muggy 90-degree heat greeted
the 176 competitors to'the first of the
AMA's series of half-mile Nationals for
the year. With only 36 positions open in
each division, time trials were a battle of
raw nerves with only a few .01 of a
second separating the fastest and
slowest riders.
