Hate Focused on Corona By Elaine Jones Laura and Felice Lipari, owners of Corqna Raceway have become the objects of a hate campaign staged by distant homeowners. Material which has been circulated by these people calls for the total shut down of the Corona facility. Friday, an injunction was served which prohibits any racing after 7 :30 p.m. This reporter has witnessed crude phone calls from people who gave phoney names, addresses and phone numbers, and men loitering around the Liparis offices for what reason no one knows. The blind, uncompromising rage of these people is unreal. They wm not talk and try to resolve differences but want to destroy a facility that has been called one of the finest in California. Last Wednesday the Liparis took decible readings which showed one area where the reading was one point above noise standards. They have also taken steps to install accoustical walling around the track and plant trees to cut noise. The Corona DA, the Police Chief and several community leaders all knew of these plans and still the injuction was served. The Liparis needs our support now. Write to the Corona City Council showing your support for the track. Write to the Liparis giving them your support. You have to do it if you want a place to ride because our foes are organized and they aren't letting somebody else do it. . > ::< ~ w Z W ..J U >- U Heavy Day At Oak Creek Ranch Corona Racing Again Cut Short By Rich Hoffman CORONA, CAL., April 28, 1971 - For the second consecu tive week Corona Raceway failed to finish the evening's scheduled events. Police stopped the remaining races at 10 due to complaints from local homeowners. The problem, of course, was due to noise. Tuesday, more than 100 complaints were presented to the city council. Until further notice from the council, racing must cease by 10 on weekdays. There is still a chance of running later if sound tests show the noise :evel does not exceed a certain decibel rating. This may be the finest motorcycle race track in Southern Calif. and it may also be the 'first to require silencers, if operation is to continue. Because of the shortened racing schedule, the main events that were not run this week but will be rUn first thing next week. Be sure to come early if you are in one 0 f th esc races.
