VOLUME VIII NUMBER 14 April 20, 1971 PRICE THIRTY CENTS JODY AGAIN GARDENA, CAL., April 9, 1971 - Two first year rookie Experts made the 15-lap feature at Ascot Friday night and one nearly pulled off the first major upset of the year at the Gardena speed bowl. John Hateley, Ascot's number one Junior last year, who did not ride opening night due to mechanical troubles, finally got it all together and nearly wgn it all on the final lap in the main event. (Please turn to pg. 8) EASTER GP EL TORO, CAL., April 11, 1971 - The AFM staged an Easter Grand Prix at Orange County International Raceway today and the fine weather made for some great racing in both the G.P. and Production classes. The turnout was a bit small, however. For complete details see pages 14-15. Bay Mare MX SOMIS, CAL., April 11, 1971 Mark Blackwell showed up at Bay Mare Park and hit the longer-than-a·mile course along with many more fine motocrossers including such stars as Jim West, Doug Grant, Rich Thorwaldson, Tim Hart and Bob Messer and showed them who is boss.
