(Continued from page 1) Co < ~ w 150 riders tackled the first IT of the season and a brand new course greeted them. Ten year veteran Eddie Mulder and his Triumph showed them all the fast way around itt time trials as Mulder again showed that he is that fast on any track. However, it was rookie Expert Terry Dorsch pulling the upset of the night and topping Mulder in the opening Expert heat race. Guess who was third...Mark Brelsford in a ride that saw him trying to the extent his head and shoulders at one time were hanging far out over the front wheel! Twelve year veteran Skip Van Leeuwen topped Ralph White and rookie John Hateley in the second heat and Dusty Coppage got by Tom Rockwood late in the third and fmal first round for the white plates. BRELSFORD TURNS IT ON Mulder, as expected, jumped into the lead at the start of the final. Van Leeuwen was right behind with Coppage in third. Then Brelsford wen t to work. Lap four found Mark diving into third over Dusty. Next lap the Harley ace nailed Skip for second place and on lap seven took the lead away from Mulder. Then Mike Haney started to move and took over third from Van Leeuwen on lap nine. Final laps of the race on the new sliding course had Haney trying to take second away from Mulder. But Mark Williams, who had stopped on the first lap and later got going over a lap back, refused to move over for the front runners and jammed the course, preven ting Haney from getting by in time to run to the flag in his bid for runnerup. Williams ran last the entire race. Van Leeuwen slowed to only one cylinder late in the race and dropped to lOth before the fmish. The Junior event was a repeat of the night before. Gary Scott and his Triumph was again the fastest combination in time trials and the main event. Texan Mike Kidd, Yamaha, again Z W ...J U >- U Gary Scon, Jr. winner both nights.
