Gene Cannady riding a DKW (formerly Sachs) proves the overall performance of the little lightweight machine. In two rugged days of competition the DKW emerged a fantastic second· overall on Sunday the 7th, out-classing machines of four times its displacement. In defeating all but one of the over 600 entries, Gene put the DKW to the true test by blasting down the streets' of Elsinore, thru deep sand, over rocks and around back-country fire roads. All this as well as starting in the 563rd position to finish second overall! Saturday started the whole thing for Gene and DKW. With 1,000 riders entered the 125cc DKW finished first 125 and third overall, this time the competition only had twice the displacement of Gene's DKW. Thus we continue to prove "DKW the winningest 125cc in the west."
