moto fmished with Joe Erwin lst, Joe Sanderson 2nd, Dave Smead 3rd. On points, Joe Sanderson with a 1st and a 2nd was an easy winner. Smead was 2nd while third was a gu y who was running so far back he looked like the clean.up crew. Tom Jeanotte finished sixth in both races, but he fmished and that got him the 3rd place trophy. There was no pattern to the 500 Expert/Jr. race. The winner of. the second moto,Jim McClurg won the race on points with an 8 th spot in the first moto. Second place man, D. Hernandez got a 5th on his motos while third place went to Randy Burak, the Viewfinder with all the hair, ears, snout and constant wheelies. Did he escape from a . . .':.lIl cartoon? After the regular show, the Stump Jumpers staged a holligan which, as the name implies, is a race where anyone who wants to can get in and last guy home buys the beer. First guy home got a 'Bell Magnum helemet donated by the club. Apparently Jim Fishback really needed a helmet because he rode like someone was after him with a draft notice or typhoid or something. He came out of the sweeper all crossed up and went over the jump the same way! He didn't get straightened out until he got to the hill a full quarter mile away. I' think it was the fastest riding anybody did all day and it was pretty exciting. Jim was on a 250 CZ and there were half a dozen guys on 500's chasing him. On the whole the Stump Jumpers seemed to have run the show quite competently and professionally but there were a couple problems. One concerned the fact that the Stump Jumpers did not accept any mail entries. According to AMA rules, any_ ~~~~~~~~~!I~~ sanctioned" event can be entered by ,::/!'"mail.
