The Peoria (Illinois) TT is definitely on August 29th at $5,100; the Sedalia, Missouri mile August 29 for a $7,500 purse and the DuQuoin, III. mile Sept. 6 is tentatively scheduled for ten to fifteen thousand dollars. The last DuQuoin race was in 1958 a 20·miler won by Carrol Resweber over Joe Leonard and Dick Klamfoth. It is a cushion mile track with short straights in between the four comers. Additionally. Clark has slated an Indoor short track for a $3.000 purse or 40% March 29 at the Cleveland, Ohio Sports Arena. This will be promoted by the powerful Cleveland Competition Club. "Negotiations are under way," reports Clark. for a $1 0.000 half·mile in New York City's Roosevelt Park May 28. a $15.000 mile event in, Chicago June 18 as well as a half·mile for $10,000 in the windy city on Sept. 10. And another indoors. this one at Montgomery. Alabama, for $5,100 OKAY, WE'LL HUMOR HIM "looks firm." although Clark stresses. "there is no date as yet." And to cap it off. Clark has two new "Classics" on the tentative calendar, a IT at Graham. Washington the Sunday after Castle Rock National for $3.000 and a short track for the same amount at Graham. Wash. on July 9. just prior to the Kent national. Rounding off the big purse professional schedule are the two Reading, Pa. payoffs. the Billy Huber memorial half-mile and the new Classic May 30. both of which go for $3.000 or 40%. IN Weekly AMA professional short track racing will be held in Sacramento on Friday nights starting April 16. reports Bob Barhimer, sponsor of the events. Contracts for the races were signed recently with V.C. McGowan. Capital Speedway owner. calling for 26 weeks of Friday night racing. Prize money for the April 16 race will be $1200 and more than 60 entries are an ticipated for the opening. Capital Speedway in Sacramento is a lighted quarter mile dirt track. slightly banked. and seats 3500.
