. ,. different winner. The first moto had Bill Gifford on a Honda leading. Then, the 2nd moto was won'by Robert Paxton (Hon) and the last moto went to liary Benile (~od). But, consistent Larry Krele (RIc) earned the most points hanging in for two 2nds and a 3rd for the overall win. The colorful Powder Puffs ran with the 100cc J rs. since only 4 girls showed up. Mary Griggs, on her Yamaha, won all three motos but she was pushed by Cathy Hubbard on her Bultaco until Cathy decided the guys must' have something going for them. She also decided to take a flying tackle at the course too, giving way for Charleen Higgins on a Sachs to take second place. The 250cc Sr. class pulled out the stops. Jim Oneal riding a CZ out of Mid Valley Cycles grabbed two first and a third for the big money. Don Bevans on his Yamaha really gave Oneal the squeeze winning the last moto and earning 2 nd overall. Dave Williams (Yam) bagged all three motos in the 250 Jr. class. Charging in for a 2nd place overall on his Maico was Steve Elsbree. The 125 Srs. had Henry Fuller (Bul) holding down second overall but Wayne Garrett from Mojave just couldn't be caught. He just puts his Yamaha out in front and stays there. The Open Sr. class caused the spectators to come unglued. Ron Nelson and Jim Oneal had each won a moto and taken a second place. The tension grew at the starting line until Oak Creek Racing Assoc. starter Don Plummer finally dropped the flag. Nelson got a bad start but he blasted his big powerful Maico around the course picking his way through the pack. He managed to pass Dennis Keefe putting him in second place and every lap closing the gap on Oneal. But there just wasn't enough laps left, leaving Oneal with the Lion s hare winning two classes for the day. Dick Gabe down from Bishop riding in the Open Jr. class on a fast CZ really got with the program in the last two motos winning easily, but he gave way to Lynn Le Sage in the 1st moto. Lynn and his Husky had to settle for second gold behind Gabe. If you want to beat the crowds and fmd the lowest prices 'around, come on out to Oak Creek Ranch. In the 250 TT Main, Corbett was caught watching the start and was off the li~e late. He the~ started passing bIkes tight and left while attempting to gain the point from Mike Arrambide. In the meantime, Mike Hannon was also trying hard and Hannon secured frrst before Corbett could. With the two pushing hard, Hannon cut off the course and was disqualified on the last lap and Corbett went on to win. Corbett didn't stop here. Both TD's in the 250 class would make most riders happy but Dan was out for more and more he got. Facing late arrival Bob Sanders in the 125 FT Main, the pair had a real go for the gold. In the 100 IT Main, Roy Widener jump.ed out in front of the pack with Sanders moving up fast. By lap three, Sanders was running second with sights set on Widener's Kawasaki. Try as he might to hold him off, Widener finally dropped to second as Sanders won with third going to Wally Jones (Suz). The 125 IT looked to be another prize for Corbett as he jumped to the lead, but Sanders had something to say about that. Halway through the race, with the pair fighting away for the point, Corbett lost his chain and that decided it. Sanders picked up his second f win with Chris Davidson second and Bob Brooks third. It was a happy night for new faces in the winners' circle as Roy Widener and Rick Hutchins each picked up his first Trophy Dash win here. Widener bagged the 100 IT dash while Hutchins the 100 FT. Kirk Redding pocketed a first in the 100 FT Main, having to hold off Tom Jamason to do it. .IT .an? IT ra?ng occurs here every Fnday rught begInning at 7 :30.
