The lime marking was so fresh that Bill Adams and r were wondering if it had just been limed and if there was to be a race the next day. No, the race had been several weeks ago. There were practically no traces. The committee seemed visibly relieved, when told that more than 500 racers had past that way with such little damage. At the end of the trip plans were made to hold another field trip to another possible location, Johnston Valley. The decision on this site would be made within a month and it would be made by Jack Wilson. When that happens, assuming that he decides to go ahead with it, maps will be prepared and sold which will give the exact location 0'£ th e area. This project will of course be ....... something of a trial run. Right now Wilson envisions no regulation beyond what is necessary to protect adjacent private property. Even murners will not be required. If the project is successful by which I mean if the area is extensively used, but not abused, more will be forthcoming. You I(et the distinct impression that the BLM is tickled pink to have someone think their land is worth something. And it doesn't take much imagination to realized that if many, many cyclists start using BLM land, the BLM will be able to get more funding for the projects which interest them. It's a one·hand-washes-the·other propostion. As 10nl( as we don't blow our end of it.
