Fortune Tops OMA Bushwhacker XC
R
ound two of the OMA Nation-
als, the Bushwhacker XC,
presented by CK4 Powersports,
was held on the Robert Miller
property in rural Newark, Mis-
souri, June 7, a familiar stop on
the OMA schedule.
This year the trail took on some
heavy rain Friday morning, mak-
ing conditions a bit tricky. Along
with the greasy trails, the high
temperature and humidity made
conditions nearly unbearable,
with a few morning racers seek-
ing medical assistance. Given the
rising temperature, promoter Bill
Gusse chose to shorten the af-
ternoon race from the customary
one-hour-45-minute race down to
one and a half hours. Based on
the pace, this change effectively
cut two laps from the race length.
Even with the shortened race,
there were still a
few who struggled
to finish laps. In
fact, half of the
racers that started
completed only
three laps or less.
