le SUZUKI BOTUNE UP 1.) Access to the magneto and contacts is through the inspection cover on the left-hand side_ Clean the contacts with a strip of business .card. Rubber plug just to the right of the magneto is covering the clutch adjustment. 1 o .... Ol III ~ Up until the last rew years when they joined all the other manufacture" and started releasing dozens of different models, the 80cc was the big gun for Suzuki in the lightweight field. They were dependable and cheap to operate and for this reason, many found their way into motorcycle rental agenCies. Being the reliable machine that it is, there are still many of them around and if you own one, you have probably had a hard time of it trYing to get an owners manual. If you have been unable to obtain any information on it, maybe these few tips will be of SOme assistance to you. 2.) There is a line etched on the flywheel and a cast line on the cover, using a timing light while the engine is running or using a continuity light, these two lines must line up at the exact moment that the contacts open for correct ignition timing. w Z W ...J U ~ U 4.) Removal of the inspection plate on the right-hand side revels the oil pump. The pump is adjusted at the full throttle position by means of the cable adjuster where the cable enters the case to go to the pump. 3.) On the earlier models, the entire left-hand outer engine case must be removed to check the ignition timing. As shown in this photo, the timing boss was cast into the inner case where it can only be seen if the cover is removed. If the timing cannot be brought in by adjusting the point gap and keeping it within .013-.017, move the backing plate. shop By Rod Breaker 6.) To keep things neat, they have covered the cab although all the adjustments are made without removing the covers. This photo shows the top-mount idle adjustment, earlier models had a hole drilled in the cover to adjust pilot-air screw. Remove and clean the air cleaner periodically. 5.) By taking off the left-hand side cover, you have accessability to the air cleaner, battery, wiring, etc. The air cleaner is a hit tricky but it can and should be removed periodically and cleaned. The battery should also be checked weekly for fluid and topped up if necessary.
